Two bronze medals at IOI 2012

The Macedonian high school students had yet another successful appearance at the 24-th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), held in Sirmione, Lombardy, Italy, from September 23-rd till September 30-th 2012. The Macedonian team at this competition consisted of 4 contestants: Hristijan Bogoevski, Jovan Krajevski, Bojan Serafimov and Kliment Serafimov, which were led by Mile Jovanov and Emil Stankov. This team repeated the last year’s success from IOI 2011 in Thailand, by winning two bronze medals. This is also the all time largest success of a Macedonian team at IOIs.

IOI is the most prestigious annual programming competition for high school students worldwide, which is traditionally held in one of the member countries of the IOI community. 250000 young people from around 90 countries compete each year to represent their country at the IOI.

A total of 310 students from 81 countries participated at this year’s IOI, having passed through national qualifying programming competitions in their own respective country.

Winners of bronze medals among the Macedonian students were Bojan Serafimov from Vinica and Hristijan Bogoevski from Skopje. It should be noted that the other two Macedonian students also achieved a solid result, and one of them missed the bronze medal by just few points.

The 25th IOI will be held from July 6-th till 13-th next year, in Brisbane, Australia.
